|Name of walk||Coniston Old Man|

Went up Coniston Old Man yesterday (2633ft). The weather was dull and overcast, but the wind of the last few days had died down. I got to Torver about 9.45 and parked the car on the side of the road and headed up the lane. It`s 3 3/4 miles to the top.
Dow Crag can be seen still in mist. The Old Man on the right. The last time I climbed the Old Man I couldn`t even see Dow Crag and there was no visibility from the summit. I was hoping for something a bit better today.
Bannishead Quarry waterfall.
The view back across Torver Common to Coniston Water.
Getting closer to Dow Crag.
Dow Crag with Goats Tarn below.
View up Goats Hause. Coniston Old Man is off to the right.
Looking back down Goats Tarn.
Top of Goats Hause looking back down the valley.
Summit of the Old Man in view. I only saw one other person on the way up....now there are swarms of them!
Low Water and Levers Water leading to Coppermines Valley .
There was little or no view to the north west due to the mist and low cloud...see below. The summit was quite cold and windy so I decided not to stop for lunch. I chatted with a couple of people on the summit and then headed back down.
By the time I got back to the lane the sun had come out and the low cloud had started to clear. Typical. Got back to the car at 3.15. A five and a half hour round trip. Got back to Barrow at four. It was really sunny by now. From the garden I could see the that the Old Man was free from cloud and in blue skies. Bugger!
