Helm Crag

Name of walk Helm Crag
Date of walk 2008-03-19

I took this week off work to do the garden and make the most of the good weather. Janet wanted to go to Hayes Garden Centre at Ambleside today, so as rain was forecast tomorrow and I`d completed all the weeding we decided to kill two birds with one stone and go to Grasmere and climb Helm Crag (1229ft) too.

1

We walked the dogs through Grasmere and took the path to Allan Bank (Wordsworth`s house) next to the Miller Howe Cafe. Helm Crag from Allan Bank.

View to Grasmere from the way up.

There were lots of walkers around today. Some were contemplating climbing to the summit.

6

Janet, Poppy and Miffy and I had lunch looking over Dunmail Raise to the Helvellyn range. Everyone "ooed and arred" at Miffy as she is so tiny. (Next to Janet's feet)

On returning to Grasmere Janet bought some Gingerbread and then we went for a large Mochacchino. It was warm and sunny enough to sit at an outside table and watch the world go by. Eventually we had to drag ourselves away and return to Ambleside to visit Hayes. I bought some trailing Petunias and Ivy Geraniums, Janet bought the rest of the shop!!!! Another good day out!
