|Name of walk||Kelly Hall Tarn and Torver Common in snow|
|Date of walk||2017-12-12|
On Monday Brendan and I drove to where the Cumbria Way Path crosses the road to Torver and parked in the small lay-by. We would walk up to Kelly Hall Tarn and Long Moss Tarn, then cross the Torver road to walk to Torver Low Common Reservoir and back to the car. It was good to be out on such a lovely day, especially in all the snow!
Me and my shadow looking down on Kelly Hall Tarn and over to Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man.
We approach the frozen Tarn.
I pose for a photo.
We head over unpathed ground to get the view down Coniston Water.
Superb view of the hills!
Coniston Water looking north.
Dow Crag in close up.
Looking down on Long Moss Tarn.
We head down and return on the footpath.
The route back.
Back at Kelly Hall Tarn.
We cross the road and head for Mill Bridge.
On the bridge.
We head up on to Low Torver Common. Microspikes were needed for this section, as there was quite a bit of ice on the paths. On the right is the Land Rover dealership.
My shadow keeps getting in the way!
We walk above Torver Low Common Reservoir.
View from the dam.
I cross the dam and get a photo from the shade which hides my shadow.
We head up and around.
On the public footpath.
The way ahead.
We head down and off to the right.
I can now see our car parked on the road below.
Crossing the footbridge the track leads directly to our car.
A good little walk of about three miles or so. If you have been wondering why my recent walks have all been uncharacteristically short and easy, please see the updated ‘About’ section.
