Decided to climb Mellbreak this morning (1675ft). As it is the Bank Holiday weekend we thought we would stick to the quiet west side. Going via Cleator. We parked just past the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater. This is where this picture is taken from……looks steep! I did it last year but never had my camera with me and missed some great views, but not this time!
Brendan and Tom coming up the scree.
View down the valley from the first view point.
Whiteside and Grasmoor with Crummock Water below.
View down Loweswater. Kirkstile Inn is white building on the right.
View down Crummock Water and Buttermere from the second view point where we stopped for lunch.
Mosedale valley from the north summit.
A very warm day. Summer in April? Tom and me on the north summit cairn.
View down Crummock Water and Buttermere from the South Summit. Fleetwith Pike ridge in the distance, and a future walk.
Found an easy way down to the Mosedale Valley path between the two summits. Last time we had to walk through waist high bracken in sheep tick season!
