|Name of walk||North Walney Beach in Snow and a Walk to The Black Huts for the Sunset.|
|Date of walk||2010-01-06|
It actually snowed on Walney Island on Tuesday afternoon so we took a walk down from our house to the beach. All the Barrow schools were shut. Tom and his mates went sledging. Then later we went to the Black Huts to watch the sunset.
View to Black Combe.
Route to the sea.
A good day for being in the hills........ if you can get to them!
A bit nippy!
This afternoon was much brighter so we went for a walk to The Black Huts which are on the far side of the channel from the North End of the island. The road down was extremely icy, luckily I had my Microspikes in my coat pocket. A bullock walking to its feeding station with Black Combe behind.
A good view out!
Looking across at The Black Huts as we head for the dunes.
We take the path off left into the dunes to get a better view of the hills.
Walna Scar, Brown Pike, Buck Pike, Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man.
Looking across the dunes.
We aimed for the beach. The sun was getting lower.
We walked in the opposite direction towards the hills to get the view out from the headland.
We headed back in the direction of The Black Huts, the sun would be setting in a few minutes.
Just time for a few pix of the huts.
That's one use for an old boat!
Sunset over the huts.
