Parking Ambleside car park.

Today Janet, Poppy and me went to Ambleside to do the Scandale Horseshoe. (Red Screes, Middle Dodd, Little Hart Crag, High Bakestones, High Pike and Low Pike.)  A 10 mile hike. We parked at the Ambleside car park which charges a scandalous £7 for 9 hours. We only needed 7! We set off up the road to the Kirkstone Pass for Snarker Pike and Red Screes (2541ft).

Kirkstone Inn. Highest Pub in Cumbria at 1480ft. Frostwick, Ill Bell and Yoke behind. Kentmere Pike back left.

Middle Dodd off left with Brothers Water behind. Off right is Caudale Moor leading to Hartsop Dodd Angletarn Pikes and Place Fell.

After we have been on Middle Dodd this is our route across to High Bakestone. The Scandale Pass follows the wall. Scandale Tarn is just left of the wall end.

The walk took just under seven hours. It was sunny and warm for most of the time. Windy on the summits.
