|Name of walk||The Hoad in Snow|
|Date of walk||2021-01-24|
There is snow in Cumbria this week, but alas, not on Walney Island! We rarely see the stuff. So in the late afternoon I went to Ulverston and took a walk up The Hoad, a mini-mountain with excellent views. A perfect substitute if you are missing the thrill of walking up proper mountains. Plus, the north side still had snow which hadn’t been melted by the sunshine. I do love the white stuff!
The Hoad Monument taken from across the canal just outside our Brass Band room.
Closer view. No snow left on the south side.
An easy route up the side. The sunshine has melted the ice on the path. Views back to Ulverston.
Views out to Morecambe Bay.
It takes less than 15 minutes to reach the top.
Walna Scar, Dow Crag, Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam.
A gorgeous view of The Hoad.
Looking down on the A590.
There are a few people on the top, but plenty of room to social distance.
The view out over Ulverston.
Always a good view out!
I watch the boys sledging then head down. The walk in total only took me 30 minutes.
I feel better for that!
