|Name of walk||Tim's 50th Birthday|
|Date of walk||2010-09-04|
Brendan’s brother, Tim had his 50th birthday party last weekend at the L ‘Arche Community in Preston where he lives. Everyone was there!
Tim and his mum, Alice.
Father Aidan with Brendan and Tom. Aidan was the chaplain at Lancaster University nearly 30 years ago which is when he got to know Tim and us. He presided at Brendan`s Dad`s funeral in Morecambe and was the priest who baptised Tom when he was at St. Columba's on Walney island....currently he is Monsignor Canon, Vicar General at Lytham St. Annes.
Apparently the collective noun for a group of nuns is a "superfluity"......and the same goes for a group of priests.....a group of clergy is an "assembly".....hmmm, rather boring by comparison!
The barbecue was in the grounds. There was also a marquee and a folk group.
The group was one of Tim's favourite local folk groups, Trouble at' Mill, who he had sung with before at a music festival. They were very good!
Alice getting into the swing of things.
Fr. Aidan having a quiet word with Alice about the evils of drink!
Tim probably knows all the words to every traditional folk, Lancashire and Irish song ever written!
Tim's cake was in the shape of a Blackpool Tram made by Jamie's wife.
Tim cutting the cake.
Determined to get the first bit!
Time now for everyone to join in! Jenny, Emma, William and Sarah too.
Mark, in the check shirt, did all the organising helped by his wife.
Even the audience could not escape doing the actions to I Am The Music Man......Unless you are a photographer! ........Me and Fr. Aidan aren't daft!
They end with an acapello version of The Blooming Heather.
Graham, the lead singer, tells us later that Tim had spontaneously made up two extra verses at the end and professes him to be a "poet".
I think Tim enjoyed himself!
