| Name of walk | Greendale: Wastwater Swim |
| Date of walk | 2025-06-20 |
Today was a warm day, ideal for a swim, so I walked to Wastwater and turned left towards Wasdale Head.
Yewbarrow, a fell on my list of walks to repeat.
My swimming spot below the woodland at Netherbeck Bridge that I identified on my first night here.
The spot is well below the road.
My wetsuit means that it's not actually that cold. I enjoy the views from the lake.
Lingmell and the Scafells.
Later on I am joined by a paddleboarder and his dog.
They head off, a wonderful way to see the lake.
A closer view of Scafell. I pack up and walk in the direction of Wasdale Head. I mean to walk to where I caught the bus from earlier in the week and then walk back.
The entrance to Bowderdale where Joss Naylor once farmed and where his family still lives.
Another dog on a paddlenoard.
Lovely
I take a selfie. Great Gable on the left.
I'm still thinking I should be up there rather than having a leisurely swim, but then I think how soggy Overbeck would be on the walk back down after all the rain and think that it can wait for another day.
Little boathouse.
Nearly back at the turn off for Greendale. Wastwater is looking gorgeous.
Time to head back.
Approaching Little Greendale.
I relax on the patio. Today is my last full day. I need to be out by 10am tomorrow.
On the way home I stop at Muncaster Castle. I have a season ticket. I have a coffee and an ice cream and do a quick tour of the grounds.
I walk the length of the terrace for the views before heading home.
I have had a good week staying at Little Greendale, some mixed weather, but would definately do it again. There are still plenty of walks here for me to re-do.
