| Name of walk | Bellringers' Walk to Dunnerholme |
| Date of walk | 2026-01-02 |
Andy, Tower Captain of St. James in Barrow had organised a New Year walk to blow away the cobwebs. Well, it was certainly windy enough, plus it was bitterly cold. On the plus side it was lovely and sunny. We all met at Askam beach car park for the walk to Dunnerholme Rock.
Right from the start of the walk the wind was bracing!
We head off along the sands towards Dunnerholme Rock on the left.
Behind Dunnerholme Rock some snow topped fells. Too cold up there today!
Always easy walking.
We stop while the boys get out their SLRs.

The wind on the sand.
We head around the rock.
The tide is coming in in two directions at this point.
After heading around the rock and back out past the cottages, we head into the rock. Some to the quarry to look for fossils, while me, Sue and Brendan head up for the view.
Looking for fossils. Lucy and Jason are the experts here.
A gastropod.
View of the train from the top of the rock.
View to Blackcombe.
We head off back the way we came.
We watch the blowing sand which shows how dunes are formed.
Andy's photo of us on the way back.

We are nearly back at the car park now.
View towards Askam Pier.
All apart from Sue and Lucy drive to Platform One, the cafe next to Askam station, and very good it was.

An enjoyable little walk despite the cold wind.
