On Wednesday I played with The South Cumbria Brass Band at Cartmel Show. We were playing from 12-4pm, but I arrived at 10am so I could have a look around the show before we started. It was a much bigger event than North Lonsdale, the previous week. The weather was good too.
Alpacas always remind me of film star, Bette Davis, I think its the hair.
Aren't Portland Sheep gorgeous?
The youngsters get to show their sheep too.
Didn't we meet at North Lonsdale?
Some refuse to have their picture taken.
Herdwick chilling in the sunshine.
A mighty beast, and very friendly.
This Border Collie had its own pen.
Back to business. Brendan took some of the band photos.
David, my fellow 1st cornet with the Ulverston Training Band, is with the Furness Morris Dancers.
Clarry performs his 'Misty' solo, to much applause. I sneak into shot at the back.
David comes to watch. There's another 3rd cornet position going, David?
View from my music stand.
Clarry praying for another break.
Ian, the conductor, on the right.
A mighty bunny.
Looking over to Cartmel Priory. I have rung their bells many times. You have to climb out onto the roof to access the ringing chamber, which can be a bit slippery when its raining. Great views though!
Dancing with hankies. I missed them dancing with sticks.
The usual suspects had been visiting 'that' tent again, the one that doesn't sell coffee. I respectfully choose not to document the evidence......this time!
Brian and Billy looking a bit miffed at losing out to Keith in the 'Best Hat' contest.
Our last session, A big audience! Hang on what's Cookie doing 'in' the audience? Keith wearing his trend setting, faux fur in August, hat.
Ian and Helen watch the wrestling.
A long day of playing!
Even Sergei has lost the will to live!
An excellent, but tiring day. Next up is playing at Grange-Over-Sands bandstand on Sunday August 18th from 2pm until 4pm.
