Today Tom and I took the car to Low Tilberthwaite just north of Coniston to do a circular walk to Little Langdale Tarn, Cathedral Quarry and Hodge Close. About 5 miles, but only 1000ft of ascent. The weather was windy and it rained most of the time.

View back to the car and the Furness Fells from the Wrynose Pass footpath.

High Tilberthwaite looking towards Lingmoor Fell and the Langdales.

Looking towards the road to Blea Tarn.

Little Langdale Tarn and the only bit of sunshine we saw!

Tom unimpressed with the elements!

Entrance to Cathedral Quarry, a long tunnel away from the main path....totally unsignposted.

Unfortunately as my walking camera has no facility to increase light levels so not much detail has shown up.

Tom in the wide cavern area. There is a large pool off to the right. The ceiling is vey high.

Another tunnel out.

We stopped here for lunch.

The quarry is a favourite for climbers..

Not sure what the cairn is for.

Bridge to Little Langdale.

Sunshine on someone`s hill walk!

Hodge Close Quarry. Used for diving. Only 100ft deep but has underwater caverns and tunnels that are dangerous. I climbed down in to another quarry in order to come out at the tunnels shown below top middle.

View across the water from the tunnels.

I don`t think I`ll go diving today, looks a bit nippy!

Baaaaa.
Quite a good walk for a bad weather day.
