A drive via Bantry to Mizen Head, County Cork, to visit the Signal Station on a beautiful day.
Bantry
We stopped on the way down to Mizen Head. The weather was glorious!

We pass Barley Cove on the way to Mizen Head and decide to stop there on the way back.

On reaching Mizen Head we visit the Signal Station Visitor Centre the displays include a Navigational Aids Simulator, Fastnet Hall, the Geology of the Mizen, the Fastnet Rescue Tide Clock, Tidal Mural, Historical Tour of the Mizen Peninsula, SS Irada Propellor. Then we head down the steps for the views out to the rocks and the Sea Arch.

The Signal Station that contains the Keepers’ Quarters, the Engine Room with Marconi Radio Room and The Workman’s Quarters with the Mizen Map Collection, the spectacular Bird Mural room with 100 Birds in the Mizen area and their eggs, Whales and Dolphins, Wrecks and CIL Boats displays. All very interesting.

We visit Barley Cove Beach. To get to the beach you cross a floating platform.

We then take a drive to Crookhaven.

Mizen Head has some great views out on a good weather day. The Visitor Centre is well worth a visit. Some of the later photos were taken on my mobile, having forgotten to recharge my camera battery!
