A walk in the South Walney Nature Reserve with John and some friends from Hest Bank. Plus a coffee break at Clarissa’s lighthouse cottage.

Heading down from the car park towards the South End of the Nature Reserve

In the Peggy Braithwaite hide I rescue a Cinnabar Moth from inside, it thanked me by hanging around for photos.

Lots of interesting stuff inside the hide.

Clarissa, who now lives in the cottage was expecting us for coffee. John poses in front of the lighthouse.

After coffee we head to Groyne Hide.

The other cottage on the left is used as a holiday cottage.

Then head around to the ponds.

The pond had many large dragonflies.

Back to mine for homemade soup and rolls.

Always a nice local walk.
