|Peaks on walk||Torc Mountain|
The weather has not been kind enough to go over to Dingle to climb Mount Brandon. So we do a mountain that is smaller and nearer.
Torc Mountain is near Muckross, Killarney. It is 1,775ft high. It is a there and back walk of about 5 miles.
From Muckross you take the Old Kenmare Road up to the car park. Then walk to the river and cross it.
Following the path.
Soon you head up a clearly signed track over railway sleepers and rock steps. Couldn't be simpler!
Looking back along the railway sleepers to the path and stream below.
I'm stood at a passing space. Brendan catching me up. The Upper Lake and the Reeks in the distance......bad weather is coming!
It is now getting windy and starting to spit a bit.
One of the girls I moved on to the passing space for took our photo.
Mangerton. I have still to climb this.
As the weather is approaching fast I leave Brendan and head up to the summit at a fast pace to get some photos before I lose the view..
Lough Guitane in close up.
The Upper Lake in close up.
Summit view to The Upper Lake and the Macgillicuddy Reeks where it is raining.
The nearer lake is Muckross Lake. Muckross House on the far right.
Looking over to Lough Guitane.
It is very windy on the summit. From this angle the egg-like bulge of fluid on my right knee is obvious.....I`ll soldier on, exhilaration masks the discomfort!
As the weather is still coming our way we head back down.
It starts to rain, nice weather for toads!
It quickly blows over and soon we are back to the car with the sun having come out.
A good little walk. Very easy.
