Name of walk | Gummers How with Hazel |
Date of walk | 2024-09-20 |
It was going to be another nice day and I was going on a morning walk with Hazel, who I know from the South Cumbria Brass Band. She had a lunch engagement to be back for, so we decided on Gummers How and a walk to the tarn. This would nicely fit into our time window and give us good views and some mixed terrain. Hazel wants to get back into walking and this is the perfect walk, not too high, not too long, and never boring!
Lots of Luing cattle grazing alongside the path.
Views to Lakeside.
There was one bullock who was eyeing us the whole time, so we gave him a wide birth.
Summit cairn selfie. You can tell it was a touch breezy on the summit!
Windermere and Lakeside.
Hazel and the view north.
We head back to the cairn, then descend to the way down to the tarn.
Heading to the tarn.
The track was a little muddy, but the mud could be avoided. Some lovely tree reflections.
We walk the dam wall to the other side, then take the track through conifer woodland to the road and back uphill to the car park.
Always an enjoyable walk for a small time window.
Jo.
