|Lay-by outside Grasmere.
On Thursday Brendan and I drove to Grasmere to climb Helm Crag. There was still snow on the tops.
Helm Crag from the walk into the village from the lay-by, with Steel Fell behind. Rather a dull day, but no wind.
Helm Crag from the other side.
Looking back to Grasmere from the route up.
Sour Milk Gill behind Brendan.
Seat Sandal and Fairfield.
Looking down on Dunmail Raise.
Close up with Loughrigg Fell behind.
Looking across the summit to the Howitzer.
I`m now stood on top of The Lion.
View across to Easedale Tarn.
Brendan with the Howitzer.
Looking ahead to Gibson Knott and Calf Crag.
We take the new zig zag path down into Greenburn.
Looking back up.
Crossing Greenburn Beck.
At the base of Steel Fell we take the road back to Goody Bridge and then into Grasmere.
A good little walk of about five and a half miles. The walk took about four hours. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the village.
