High Dam and Finsthwaite

Name of walk High Dam and Finsthwaite
Date of walk 2013-02-08

Yesterday afternoon, to make the most of the sunshine, Ged, Kas and I drove to Finsthwaite to walk up to High Dam.

1

The Lower tarn.

2

3

High Dam.

4

We planned to climb the fence and end up on the ridge above my head which should give good views out to the higher fells.

5

6

7

High Dam was partly frozen.

8

We managed to scale the barbed wire fence......most unfriendly!........and climbed to the top for the views. The forests are still quite high but we could just see over the trees.

9

The Langdale Pikes.

10

Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, Ill Bell and Yoke.

11

Brown Pike, Buck Pike, Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man.

12

Looking back down to High Dam.

13

We climbed back down and continued our circuit.

14

15

Towards the end we headed off over a couple of fields for the alternative route back to Finsthwaite Village. The little gate is the entrance to the public footpath through someone's driveway/garden.

16

Now in someone`s garden, Kas goes on the lead.

17

We make for St. Peter's Church.

18

View from the way back to the car.

Another good little walk. It took a couple of hours.
