Our cottage in County Kerry is at Knockanhua, five miles down a single track lane from Kilgarvan and at an altitude of 850ft. It is at the end of the valley and very isolated. Brendan’s father grew up here.
Paddy guards the cottage.
Paddy is one of Patsy's sheep dogs. He comes often to sample my endless supply of dog treats.

One of our reasons for coming to Ireland was to have a Mass for Brendan's mother, Alice, who died aged 87 at the end of July, and to inter her ashes in Kilmackilloge Cemetary. After this some of us went back to The Lake House beside Cloonee Lough.

A visit to Dan and Elsie's.
A round pool table? Only in Ireland. This is at Riley's in Kilgarvan. I have not picked up a pool cue for nearly 15 years, but T.J. insisted I play the landlord, a very good player. I used to play pool for Cumbria and trialed for England many moons ago.....but never on a round table!!!! I was a bit rusty, but still took him to the last ball! The old girl still has it!
A few walks to follow.
