I was in Ambleside this morning, shopping for seeds at Hayes Garden Centre. On the way back I decided to detour via Hawkshead for a quick walk up Latterbarrow. I parked on the road to Wray, about a mile past Colthouse, in a space just next to the footpath and within 10m of the sign up to Latterbarrow. The views would be dull, and it looked like it was just about to rain, but I would be up and down within 30 mins. It is better than no walk at all….just!

Just in case there was ever any doubt as to my destination.

Looking up towards Latterbarrow. Tom Jones could never sing "The Green Green Grass of Home" here! It almost looks unreal, but that was the colour, honest!

View to Hawkshead from the brief climb up to the summit.

The cairn ahead.

The tall cairn.

Looking down on Windermere from the summit. No view out to the distant mountains today.

I returned the way I came. View out from where I parked my car.
An easy walk, but much better on a day with views!
This must be the shortest post ever!!! 😉
