Two Torver Tarns

Name of walk Two Torver Tarns
Date of walk 2024-12-19

It was sunny today, but very windy so I decided on a drive to Torver and a low level walk to a couple of tarns, Low Torver Common Reservoir and Kelly Hall Tarn. I parked in the lay-by opposite the Cumbria Way path.

01

I cross the footbridge over Mere Beck.

Looking back the way I have come.

06

Coniston Old Man on the left.

07

The dark clouds have reached Dow Crag.

08

Anne Riggs summit cairn. Coniston Water on the right. It is blowing a gale up here.

09

View back to Torver Low Common Reservoir. I head back down out of the wind.

10

View from Mill Bridge.

11

Mill Bridge on the right. I take the footpath to the road and cross over towards Kelly Hall Tarn.

12

Black clouds over all the mountains now, so time to return to my car.

13

I head around the tarn.

15

Always a nice shot into the sun.

This walk is only a couple of miles and took an hour and a quarter.
